How
does it work?
SafePASS utilize
a state-of-the-art microchip technology that allows fingerprints
to be scanned below the surface of the skin, to the "live
layer" of the finger. As a result, SafePASS is not affected
by common surface conditions such as dry, worn, scarred, dirty
or oily skin that can affect other sensors. It is capable of scanning
anyones finger under virtually any condition resulting in reliable
and fast identification.
Also, as a
result of this technology, SafePASS can simply take a few key
measurements of your finger and your fingerprint swirls to uniquely
identify you. Although this small "template" data is meaningless
to anyone else, it allows SafePASS to quickly identify you from
others in the database without a need for the actual fingerprint
image. This makes SafePASS safe, secure, and the fastest method
of finger scanning available.
How
do I set up SafePASS for my School?
Setting up
a SafePASS system is easy. Each biometric based SafePASS Door
Controller (shown at top of page) is powered by a low voltage
power source and is made of a water resistant polycarbonate case
and a seamless keypad membrane. This means the unit can be safely
exposed to outdoor moisture and temperature extremes as long as
it remains protected from direct rain and snow.
Each SafePASS
Door Controller has the built-in ability to control an electronic
door latch (not included) so there's no need for separate door
latch controller devices. Simply wire the door latch directly
to the SafePASS Door Controller and your done with the door setup
(see schematic below).
Also, since
these scanners are truly small computers, they communicate over
your existing standard ethernet computer network. Connecting a
SafePASS Door Controller with your SchoolLeader system couldn't
be easier. Just run standard ethernet cable from each Door Controller
to your computer network "hub" and the SafePass software will
quickly and easily take control of all your door entry points.
All the communication and control software is built right into
SchoolLeader. No need to purchase or install anything separate.
Can
I use it for controlling my inside CheckPoint Station?
| Yes,
in addition to using SafePASS Door Controllers for
controling access to your outside doors, you can also use
our SafePASS Desktop Scanners to enable CheckPoint
Station with biometrics. |

These
small scanners (shown left) connect directly to your PC
using a standard USB plug (the same as your keyboard and
mouse) and can be used to eliminate the need for PINS when
authenticating your users at the CheckPoint station. Instead,
a user can now be identified in the same way they gained
access to the front door. It's also a great way to stop
"buddy clocking" by employees since there's no
way to "fake" your biometric identity.
These
simple SafePASS Desktop Scanners are also used for
setting up a convenient finger registration station. Although
a SafePASS Door Controller can also be used as a registration
station, a desktop scanner at your frontdesk makes it convenient
for your staff to quickly register the finger of a new parent
or employee without needing to go to the front door..
